At Kit Stone it is without reservation that we harness the natural qualities of teak ‘tectona grandis’ to design our premier garden furniture dining range. It was not by accident that some of the first and finest teak garden furniture was built from the decks of disused tea clippers. Having survived decades of the ravages of the ocean this garden furniture can still be seen, one hundred years later, in country gardens today.
The natural richness of oleoresin in teak, unlike other common hardwoods, repels the detrimental effects of the weather and prevents warping, splitting and cracking, making it the natural choice amongst all hardwoods for garden furniture construction. This natural oil also precludes the need for manufactured oils or varnish and leads to teak’s overriding suitability for long-term outdoor use.
Harvested from Government controlled plantations, we only utilise the highest-grade teak, indicated by its rich dark colour. Freshly sawn teak has a beautiful and uniquely varied colour of grain, which, if untreated, mellows to an attractive silver grey. An annual scrub with soapy water, or a gentle jet wash, will maintain this character for life. We utilise only mature teak with the most intricate grain, no knots and no veneers, to construct the tables and chairs within our premium range. |

Our craftsmen use only Mortice and Tenon joints with dowel fixings for strength and longevity, to give peace of mind that our teak furniture is constructed to give many years of pleasurable use. All of the timber in our teak garden furniture range is kiln dried to 8-12% moisture, the perfect moisture content for long term stability. Our folding teak garden chairs, steamers and recliners have only stainless steel or solid brass fittings to last the lifetime of your furniture with no rust guaranteed. All of the tables within our teak garden furniture collection have parasol fittings and plugs as standard. We endeavour to deliver all of our garden furniture assembled, or assemble it on site if requested.
